in my practice, performance for camera emerged out of the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting impossibility of public performance. shaped in part by artists such as bruce nauman and paul mccarthy, these works translate live gesture into a mediated, intimate register. within them, i engage the grotesque, realness, queer horror, malaise, and the erotic as operative modes—mobilizing each to satirize and unsettle prevailing social norms and conditions.
